Christmas Pzazz

I am inspired by this board. How fun to have a Christmas/winter wedding!

Red shoes, crushed peppermint candies, marshmallows, vibrant red roses and splashes of red everywhere. Innovation and out of the box thinking  can bring fun to a Christmas wedding. This style board captures the magic and love of the Christmas season.

A Day at Kleinfeld, NYC

Hey gals,
I have exciting news to share with you. I love the show ” Say Yes to the Dress” and am sure many of you have enjoyed it also. I was just there on my trip to New York. I cannot say enough about the “personal experience” one has upon entering this bridal salon.
I was warmly greeted and given a tour by the owner’s personal assistant. From the first moment a future bride enters this gorgeous salon, she is very special. She is assigned a personal sales associate who guides her through the whole process.
Never have I seen such an assortment of designer gowns at one place and at one time. However, one is not overwhelmed because of the salon’s design and procedure. Gowns range from $1800 to $24,000 and up. Kleinfeld offers both trunk shows and sample sales. Both are a way to save money on a quality gown. The difference between a trunk show and a sample sale is that the trunk show features a designer who brings all of their new line and offers a discount. Whereas, a sample sale offers a significant discount on current or former designs.
The dressing rooms are lovely. One amazing feature is a webcam so that those not present can view you in each gown and share the experience with you.
I toured the alteration rooms and was so impressed by the talented workers who re-did the beading, sequins , etc. as demanded by alterations.
The second floor was home to all the accessories: jewelry, hair pieces, veils, shoes, purses, fur wraps. You name it, you can  have it! Nothing is beyond imagination here. They are able to create your total look for you.
Now that I have made this professional connection with Kleinfeld and staff, I hope to assist any future brides in making a trip to New York City for the Kleinfeld experience. I can assist you with appointments, travel, etc. It would make wedding gown shopping a “once in a lifetime” experience.
For the those of you who have watched the show, “Say Yes to the Dress”, what is one thing you have learned that will help you select your perfect gown?

Holiday Cheer in New York City

I just returned and have to say Manhattan is at its finest at Christmas time. It is absolutely magical. I thoroughly enjoyed  viewing all the window displays, especially at Lord and Taylor’s, Bloomingdales, and Saks. The interior of Bergdorf Goodman was a breathtaking winter wonderland.
I had made an appointment at  Bergdorf’s Bridal Salon.  The designer gowns were exquisite and shown in an intimate setting. I also had fun checking out several hotel venues for weddings.
One of my most cherished moments  was a meeting I had with Cathie Black, President of Hearst Corporation and author of  Basic Black. This is an excellent book for any young woman in the business world. Cathie and my mom  were close friends growing up together in Chicago. She was excited that I had launched my own company and offered sound business advice. Cathie was the person who encouraged Oprah to start a magazine and Cathie worked with her to make it happen,
I had wanted to be there for the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting ceremony which was amazing.  Above is a picture  of the tree at Rockefeller Center for all of you to see. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes is a must see. I also enjoyed the Broadway musical, “Billy Elliot. ” Of course, I managed some time for  shopping!

Later I will share with you my exciting visit to Kleinfelds.

Top 10 Reasons to Hire a Wedding Coordinator

Top 10 Reasons to Hire a Wedding Coordinator

Do-it-yourself brides may think of their wedding as just one more challenge to conquer—until they discover all the little things they never even considered. Luckily, that’s where wedding coordinators come in. Here, 10 local experts list the reasons to put your DIY drive aside and enlist their services to plan your big day:

  1. Experience: “Knowledge and experience is power. With years of knowledge, an experienced coordinator is able to solve last-minute problems on site without panicking. Also, with experience, we are able to match the right vendor to the client due to our relationship with different vendors. With every wedding we learn something new; over time, we help pass off this knowledge for a perfect celebration.” Thomas Bui, Thomas Bui Lifestyle, www.thomasbui.com.
  2. Vision: “The ideal experience for a bride and groom and their guests is a day during which nobody has to think or make decisions. Your professional wedding consultant will execute your vision and navigate all the events of the day so that you are free to enjoy your wedding—just as you’ve imagined it.” Gayle Feallock, Just Imagine Weddings, www.exquisiteweddingsmagazine.com/media/Exquisite-Weddings/Spring-Summer-2009/Just-Imagine-Wedding-Planning/.
  3. Cost-Effectiveness: “It is a wise investment to hire an experienced wedding coordinator so that all of the money and months spent planning a perfect day will actually be executed to a couple’s highest expectations.” Victoria Schroeder, VICTORIA Weddings and Events, www.victoriawe.com.
  4. The Gift of Time: “Save time by getting valuable and qualified vendor referrals from your coordinator. No need to spend hours researching and wondering if certain vendors are right for you.” Julie Scrivener, The Best Wedding for You, www.thebestweddingforyou.com.
  5. Cohesion: “With such a significant investment of time and money spent on a wedding, a professional planner will not only make sure that you have the correct pieces to your puzzle, but that they are all put together smoothly. We guide through the labyrinth of options while maintaining the client’s goals. Having all of the best vendors in the world is meaningless if the glue is not there to pull it together.” Liz Beck, Liz Beck Events, www.lizbeckevents.com.
  6. Security: “Having a wedding coordinator ensures less risk of anything going wrong and more security that all the details will be just right!” Rachel Peniche, Plan it San Diego, www.planitsandiego.com.
  7. Stress Relief: “Having a planner on board allows you to slow down, take a deep breath and truly enjoy the process of planning your wedding.” Ashlyn Carter, Carter and Cook Events, www.carterandcookeventco.com.
  8. The Matter of Manners: “Etiquette can play an important role in a wedding, especially for those brides who want a traditional celebration. Wedding coordinators have experience and knowledge necessary to advice bride and families on how to invite guests, on how to deal with difficult family issues, on how to create a processional order at the ceremony, on how to assign seats at the reception, on how to send thank-you notes, and so on.” Sabrina Cadini, La Dolce Idea, www.ladolceidea.us.
  9. Creative Inspiration: “It seems there are countless decor ideas out there, but your coordinator can help you narrow them down to fit your own wedding style. They can also help you create customized options to make your wedding truly unique and memorable.” Rachel Welland, Bliss Events, http://www.exquisiteweddingsmagazine.com/media/Exquisite-Weddings/Spring-Summer-2009/Bliss-Events/.
  10. Peace of Mind: “There is nothing like knowing that you have someone to oversee all of the details that you have put in place as well as invested money in.” DeShai Roberson, Oh So Chic Wedding and Event Planning, www.ohsochicevents.com.

Destination Wedding in Mexico

My brother and his wife had a destination wedding in Mexico. I had so much fun planning their Big Day!  It was  3 days of fun and  festivities for 150 people. The men played golf, the gals enjoyed the spa and everyone enjoyed the pool and the beautiful view of the ocean. An early morning mixed doubles tennis tournament was a huge success for players and fans!

When having a destination wedding, use the charm of your surroundings when developing the theme. There were several  ways we personalized their wedding in Mexico:

1. The open bar served  assorted Mexican beers, margaritas and wine,

2.  A live Mariachi band played for the cocktail hour.

3. At the Reception, the Dj alternated with a live Mexican band.

3. Tables were named after choice tequila brands with that bottle of tequila on that table

4. The favors were monogrammed shot glasses. Guests did a tequila shot rather than a champagne toast. Guests loved this!

These were just a few ways that we made it a truly memorable weekend for everyone

Jenny and Pepper’s Wedding

Jenny and Pepper were destined to have a  dream come true wedding.  Aren’t they a  gorgeous couple? They were married September 26, 2009 at La Jolla Torrey Pines Hilton. They were surrounded by loving family and friends that were there to celebrate and have a great time. The Bridal Party rocked the grand entrance with their dance moves and the party began. Guests danced the night away and also had so much fun taking pictures in the photobooth.  The florals were spectacular. Chana and Don did a great job on capturing every loving detail of the day. It was a privilege for me to coordinate this exquisite event.

A Big thanks to all of the vendors who made this an unforgettable day!

Glitz and Glamour Wedding

For a stylish hip couple, wouldn’t it be fun and unique to have a wedding at the Hard Rock Hotel. The escort cards would lay in a bed of colorful jewels, table names would be named after their favorite bands or rock stars. The guests would be wowed by tall centerpieces with hanging crystals. The signature drink would be a pink Cosmo with a rock candy lying across the rim and served at a spectacular ice bar. The bride would get a second chance to steal the moment when she appears at the grand entrance in a short glitzy party dress. Instead of a DJ, the bride and groom would surprise the guests with a cover band. Let the party ROCK!

Tropical Sweet Sixteen Bash

Picture the Birthday Girl sunning, swimming and surfing with a few close friends at a beautiful beach club. It would be a magical  evening  with the pool area transformed into a tropical night club. They would dance the night away on top of a clear glass-covered pool! Flat screen TVs playing their favorite music videos and a photo booth would be a huge success.  Bartenders would serve tropical non-alcoholic drinks. Guests would enjoy a wide selection of appetizers, including sliders.  Imagine the Birthday Girl’s surprise and expression when an Ace of Cakes creation is placed before her. It would be a night remembered by all.
